20 Minute Gameplay Experience
I talked to a senior guy at Skydance and he mentioned the game Cube Escape, which is a room escape released in installments of 30 min gameplay. They released the first 5 games for free and then put a price tag on the 6th one, and already had a following, feedback, and an engine to work with, we will do this with naughty p - release chapter 1 etc... this way we won't lose motivation as developers and get set reasonable deadlines.
He emphasized that success with indie projects is largely dependent on shipping and getting stuff out there - that is the game changer. So a dramatic down scope is in order - even if it means putting out the first few iterations for free - it makes way more sense given our schedules.
